Looking for Barothy's
Several years ago Debbie Paterson posted a message
here looking for relatives and information on
Arpad Barothy and his lineage. I'm a grandson of
Arpad's, and am interested in communicating with
anyone who may know more about my family. Here is
Debbie's former posting. I have no idea how to get
in touch with her: I am researching my family
history. I have discovered that Alice Nessling
married Dr Arpad Barothy in Chicago in 1901. He
seemed to be quite well regarded and apparently
came from a prominent Hungarian family. He set up
Barothy Lodge (a health spa) in Michigan which was
taken over by his sons Frederick Bela and Victor
Louis. I know he was born in Nagy-Varad but
unfortunately I don't know his parents. I think he
may be the son of a Baron Barothy but have no
direct proof. Also, in 1888 an Oers Barothy
committed suicide (3 years after losing a
"duel" in Hungary). He had a brother
Victor and 2 others K. Barothy and A. Barothy -
possibly Kalman and Arpad. I would like any
information that can clarify if Arpad is connected
to these Barothys. Any information about Dr Arpad
Barothy would be gratefully received. |
